Traffic busy in Didcot and also on A417, especially between Aston Tirrold and Blewbury.

  1. Start at DIDCOT ALL SAINTS
  2. From Church gate go right up Lydalls Road, left at T-Junction into Foxhall Road and left at mini-roundabout into The Broadway. At mini-roundabout, opposite Fire Station, go right into Newlands Avenue for SAINT PETER (0.9 miles)
  3. Return to and continue Broadway. After major traffic lights at junction with Station Road take first right for METHODIST CHURCH on right in corner of Broadway and Mereland Road (0.6)
  4. Alternatively, shortly before regaining Broadway take right turn out of Newlands Avenue into quieter Wessex Road, continue to junction with Mereland Road, go left and walk c. 100 yard down slope against direction of one-way traffic
  5. Continue Broadway until bottom of slope and go right before reaching major roundabout into Old Hagbourne Road.
  6. Alternatively go from Church up Mereland Road and take first left to walk against direction of one-way traffic along Church Street to note disused NORTHBOURNE SAINT PETER ON RIGHT. Continue to end and go right into Old Hagborne Road. At junction bear right onto B 4016 and continue to EAST HAGBOURNE GREEN TRIANGLE. Go right, signed West Hagbourne, into Main Road and at war memorial keep left into Church Close for SAINT ANDREW (1.6)
  7. Return to green triangle and continue B4016 for Blewbury. Enter village after c. 2 miles, take first right into Besselslea Road, left at T-junction into South Street, right into Church Road and right again for SAINT MICHAEL (2.8)
  8. Return to entrance to Church Road and continue straight ahead along footpath, alongside stream, for METHODIST CHURCH (0.2)
  9. Leaving Church go left along Chapel Lane andat Red Lion Public House go left into Nottingham Fee. At T-junction go right onto A417. Continue for c. 1.3 miles and at entrance to UPTON go right into High Street. Take first left into Church Street for SAINT MARY (1.8) 8.Continue and bear left into Fieldside for METHODIST CHURCH on right (0.2)
  10. Continue into Station Road. At T-Junction go right to rejoin A417. After c 0.2 miles take first right, signed West Hagbourne. At Horse and Hounds Public House go right into Main Street and continue through village into Brook Lane. Follow signs for Didcot, entering town by Park Road. At major roundabout go left into Wantage Road for BAPTIST CHURCH on left after c. 300 yards (2.7)
  11. From Church cross Wantage Road into Manor Crescent directly opposiTe and continue for ENGLISH MARTYRS ON LEFT (0.1)
  12. Continue Manor Crescent. At T-Junction go left into Foxhall Road and then third right into Lydalls Road to return to ALL SAINTS (0.4)

About 1.5 miles along East Hagbourne to Blewbury road take left turn signed Aston Upthorpe. On entry to village bear right into Thorpe Street for ALL SAINTS (2.9) . Continue to cross roads and go right into Spring Lane for UNITED REFORM CHURCH (0.2)

Immediately past Church go left through barriers to walk "No Cycling" footpath.

Continue through two more sets of barriers into

Churchyard of ASTON TIRROLD SAINT MICHAEL (0.2). Continue path out of churchyard, go right into Aston Street, then left up Chalk Hill. At T-Junction with A417 go right, signed Wantage. At entry to BLEWBURY TAKE SECOND RIGHT INTO South Street, first left into Church Street, and right for SAINT MICHAEL (2.3) Adds 2.8 miles
