How to seek a Grant from OHCT
for your Church

The principal purpose of the Trust is to provide funds for the repair and restoration of churches and chapels of all denominations in the county. Although its name includes the word ‘historic’ the Trust will give consideration to applications for those built in the twentieth as well as those dating from earlier centuries. It also administers some funds for environmental organisations.

The Trust does not have sufficient funds to meet all a church’s needs but with grants of up to £10,000 it can help prime the pump and fund a balance between what it can raise from its own efforts and other organisations. It can also help in advising on such fund-raising efforts.

Grants can be made to help projects with major repairs or restoration of the fabric which includes structural work, drainage, bells, clocks, organs, heating, wiring and lighting. The Trust does not contribute to general appeals and it is not empowered to fund new work such as kitchens and meeting rooms
