Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust Thinking of Posterity |
|
|
Your legacy can help preserve Oxfordshire’s churches for posterity.
In recent years the amount of financial support from national organisations
such as English Heritage has declined, placing a greater burden than hitherto
on county trusts. The Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust is prominent in
helping to maintain this priceless heritage. Apart from the various ways described in the other pages on this
website, those who care about this heritage are encouraged to name the Trust
as a beneficiary in their wills. |
|
The advantages of a
bequest † it is an effective way for many people to
make a more substantial donation than their present circumstances may permit. † it is not liable to
inheritance tax. † a substantial gift can be made without
affecting your family’s current security. |
|
How to make a bequest † A legacy of money This is a gift of a named amount of money. Inflation may erode its
value over the years, but this can be avoided by making provision for the
amount given to be increased automatically in line with a prices index. † A legacy of property Gifts may be left in the form of land, shares, pictures or other
valuables. The Trust would sell the asset or assets at an appropriate time
and apply the proceeds to its work. † A residuary legacy This is part or all of the residue of your estate after all other
legacies and obligations have been fulfilled. |

However you may decide to help the Trust in this way, either by
amending your existing will or by a codicil, you should seek professional
legal advice. You may also like to contact the Trust’s Treasurer: Bill Andrewes, Apple House, Combe, Oxford, OX29
